Jim Collier > This could be a fun slide...that would probably result in alot of head injuries.
Jim Collier > This strikes me as an angle that the sculpture would be embarrased to be seen from.

Jim Collier > The Blue DoorThe blue in this infrared shot really did show up like this, although I took the liberty of enhancing the saturation a bit. The surrounding photo was also nearly perfectly monochrome, but I did go ahead and desaturate what tiny bit of color was there. So it's mostly an authentic shot. The school is (or was) J. McPhail Elementary, open from 1956 to 1970. The Santa Venetia Center for the Arts and Humanities purchased the property in 1994 from the San Rafael School District for $900,000. The property went into foreclosure in 2002 and ownership is still in dispute. As for the large unusual sculpture, I could not find the slightest accurate reference to it on the web, other than a few photos and discussion on a geocache site. One person speculated that it was titled 'The Nail That Sticks Out Gets Hammered In' by Ray Beldner and Robin Lass—which it most definitely is not. That work of art was an array of singing toy flowers lined up and dancing to music, on the floor of an abandoned military bunk house. (Seriously.)
Jim Collier > I don't think she can lift that thing.
